Get outside, feel better inside

“Your feelings are valid, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness..”

Hey! I’m Dot. I am here to help

I’ve been working in the mental health field for over 12 years, in which time I’ve sat with, held a safe space for and been there for many people through some of their darkest times. I have had the opportunity to witness so many people turn their lives around and make huge changes through therapy.

As the world is expanding and changing, I want to work more creatively to share my professional knowledge and experience to help transform lives. It is time to get therapy out of the stuffy therapy room and into the world.

I’m no stranger to mental health challenges myself. After 21 years of further education and working for the NHS, I went through my own personal battle with burnout/not living truly in line with my values. Something had to change so I decided to try therapy myself and gained the confidence and strength to leave the NHS for a while, to set up my own private practice. Establishing “Dr Dot” allowed me to work more in line with my values and principles and I feel much happier!

My own personal battle with burnout highlighted how easy it is to struggle with mental health. It can happen to anyone, even someone skilled and specialized in mental health!

We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health – no one is immune to mental health difficulties. We are all human at the end of the day and distress is a normal part of life. It is only natural to need extra support at times.

“Your mental health is just as important as your physical health - don’t neglect it”

I am passionate about helping people. I’m also a massive fan of the outdoors! As a Shetland native, I love going back “hom” to escape the fast-paced city life of Glasgow. I can often be found up a munro, swimming in a loch or camping under the stars away from the buzz of traffic, light pollution and technology. The peace and quiet of the outdoors and being in nature really rejuvenates me! I know they can do the same for you too, alongside teaching you the essential therapy tools which I have seen heal and enhance the lives of so many others.
