Get outside, feel better inside

“Your feelings are valid — and seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness”

Hey! I’m Dot - Clinical Psychologist and Creator of ‘Connect the Dots’

I’m passionate about making psychology feel human, relevant and accessible.  Take a look around, explore the blog and feel free to sign up for updates if you'd like to hear when new content or workshops go live.

With over 15 years of experience of delivering psychological therapy in the NHS, I’ve spent my career supporting people through some of life’s most difficult moments — from anxiety and burnout to trauma and emotional overwhelm. These experiences now shape the blog posts, resources and upcoming workshops I share here, designed to help you understand your mind and feel more steady in the midst of it all.

Many people have told me that working with me helped them feel seen and understood for the first time — and that kind of connection is what drives everything I do.

My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches like Schema Therapy, CBT and Compassion-Focused Therapy — but more than anything, it's grounded in real life: the messy, complex, beautifully human experiences we all navigate.

“You wouldn’t ignore a broken leg — don’t ignore a hurting mind”

A Bit About Me

I’m originally from Shetland, now based in Glasgow, and I still feel most at home when I’m outdoors — hiking a munro, swimming in a loch, or just taking a break from the noise. I believe connecting with nature can be an important part of looking after our mental health, and I often encourage others to take small moments outside where they can.

You don’t have to have a diagnosis to benefit from psychological insight. If you’re someone who feels overwhelmed, stuck in patterns you can’t quite shift, or simply want to understand yourself better — I hope what you find here feels supportive, empowering and grounded in compassion.
